STUDENT AWARDS PROGRAM
The Coastal Society actively supports
opportunities for students to present emerging concepts and enrich the
coastal community’s collective knowledge. Student awards provide a
means of acknowledging the best student
paper, poster and presentation. Awards
will be presented at The Coastal Society 18th
International Conference. Students wishing to submit
papers or posters for consideration for these awards
should indicate so on their abstract submission. Three
student awards will be presented - the Society's Thomas
E. Bigford Student Awards (for Paper and Poster) and the Sea Grant Association Award. Eligibility:
Presently matriculated graduate students and
law students Conditions:
Students must make an oral or poster
presentation, and paper must be published in
TCS17 Proceedings following extended abstract
guidelines Eligibility: Presently matriculated graduate
students and law students presenting marine
or Great Lakes research Conditions: Student must make oral or poster
presentation and paper must be published in
TCS17 Proceedings. (If research is Sea Grant
funded, appropriate acknowledgement of that
support is required.) Evaluation
Criteria (for both awards) Co-authored papers Co-authored papers are
acceptable, provided that the student applying for the
award is the primary author. Submission After your initial
abstract is accepted, please submit a separate letter with your proceedings paper that
includes the name, affiliation, addresses, phone and FAX
number of the student author. Indicate that the paper or
poster is to be entered into the student awards
competition. In addition, please supply a letter from
your advisor stating that the work reported on is
exclusively or largely that of the student's, and that it
